Celebrating the holidays while creating new traditions for your own Family
Mom’s wrapping night with favorite Christmas music and hot coffee.
Creating new family traditions while celebrating the holidays can feel overwhelming if trying to do it all every year. Sprinkle in some old, add one or two new holiday traditions each year then see what sticks. By the time your child is 10 your young family will make it very clear what traditions they LOVE and you’ll sift out what didn’t work. You’ll even adopt a few traditions you never thought were for you and your kin.
A few traditions we kept are Christmas Eve at Grandma’s house, putting up the Christmas tree day after Thanksgiving and playing music when we put on the ornaments at a later date. The new traditions with my family include making gingerbread houses, tickets to a holiday concert but make it something different each year and matching holiday PJ’s & socks.
Holiday traditions can be simple and slow- they can be as easy as matching socks for the family on the day after Thanksgiving so you can all enjoy them the whole month. of December and wear them to special holiday occasions, which can make getting ready extra fun.
What are your favorite Christmas traditions for you and with your family? I’d love to hear from you.
